Cole Trafzer

Cole tried various forms of dance, spending the majority of the time on Ballet, until he was fourteen. When he tried Ballroom Dancing for the first time, he was immediately drawn to it more than anything had interested him until that point. Cole graduated high school at the age of fifteen and went straight into cosmetology school to join his family company in the Cosmetology and Spa world, where his mother ran the Beauty, and his grandmother, a world class Licensed Massage Therapist, ran the massage therapy and spa services. However, after attending cosmetology school to walk in his mother's footsteps with dreams of owning a salon together, Cole’s mother, Candy, passed away at just 36 from a car accident, when Cole was 16. He went to his beloved dance studio to tell them it was time to stop dancing, since he and his grandmother were moving to Houston, where he needed to return to cosmetology school. Instead of the sad goodbye, his teacher disappeared into the manager's office and when she returned, she had an owner of multiple studios in a prominent chain of Ballroom Dance Studios. He said based on the good word of his instructor, if he wanted, he could begin training the next week in Houston to become a professional ballroom dancer. The next week, he and his grandmother were on the road to Houston, where everything fell into place. Beginning as an instructor at the age of 17, Cole stayed with Fred Astaire Dance Studios 8 years, earning the awards of Top Male Instructor for three years, Top Executive, Top Studio at national and regional competitions, and his students won top bronze female at regional competitions over 20 times, and nationally three times. His students also won top overall student and were regular finalists and first place earners in multiple divisions. Professionally he earned his Diploma of Dance in American Smooth and Rhythm, became a Certified Dance Director, and Manager of a studio. After leaving the company, he ventured into the yoga and massage side of the world for a few years, and balanced both businesses and opened a holistic wellness center in Columbus, GA, that offered Ballroom Dance, Yoga, Aerial Silks, Pole Fitness, and more. After the closing of the studio during Covid, despite the beautiful three years it was open, Cole moved to Los Angeles for a new beginning and fell in love with the city that he now considers his home. After working independently in Los Angeles, Cole found YCDStudio in 2024, where he discovered his all-time idol of dance, Anna Trebunskaya, owned a studio. He was humbled, honored, and elated when Anna and Irina brought him on the team, and has found a wonderful fit in YCD. He looks forward to many years to come bringing his style of teaching, honoring empathy, focus, and dedication to ensure his students always get the elite level of training that is the YCD Studio legacy.
